OLDHAM Schools under-14s’ hopes of a treble are over after they were beaten 3-2 by Sefton in the quarter-finals of the North-West Woodward Trophy.
It was the town team’s first defeat of the season, and they struggled from the word go against a strong side, who had raced into a 3-0 lead by half-time.
Oldham, the Greater Manchester Schools’ League champions, came back strongly after the restart and pulled a goal back through Noor Uddin (Grange).
Carlton McIntosh (South Chadderton) reduced the deficit even further, but Merseyside outfit held firm to book their place in the last four.
Oldham will now turn their attention to the Talbot Cup final against Manchester, which will played at some stage over the Easter holiday period.
