Stretton leads way for Angels

THERE were goals galore for Heyside Angels in the Oldham Girls League.


Under-11s Clarets clinched runners-up spot in the table behind club-mates Angels Inter after a 5-0 defeat of Harpurhey United. Alicia Stretton got all five in a superb individual show.

Under-16s Clarets, with Jessica Bromley bagging four, hit 13 with no reply against Uppermill Rockettes ‘B’.

Blossom Halkyard (three), Lily Prince (two), Lucy Shaylor (two), Lauren Parkinson and Dannielle Reynolds were the other net-busters.

Paige Rowland, Catherine Todd and Leoni Harland scored for under-13s Angels Inter in a 3-0 defeat of Rochdale AFC.

Kelly Ward struck four times as under-13s Clarets swept aside Uppermill Rockettes 8-2. Beth Mellor (two), Sarah Hardman and own goal made up the tally.

Under-12s Angels were comfortable 5-1 winners over Oldham Athletic. Alix Sephton (two), Hayley Tomlinson (two) and Sophie Harland scored for Heyside, while Emily Vale replied.

ROCS FC under-14s, the champions, produced an excellent display to defeat Moston Juniors 7-1.

Goal-scorers were Megan Jackson (three), Lauren Steel (two), Shona Ninian and Georgia Flynn.

OLDHAM Athletic Girls under-11s suffered a 7-1 defeat at the hands of Uppermill Rockettes, but Shelby Newton notched a hat-trick, including one from the penalty spot, as the under-16s overcame Droylsden 5-3. Ashlie Ball got the other two goals.

UPPERMILL Rockettes under-16s enjoyed a 3-0 win over an understrength ROCS FC side.

Kim Buckley put ’Mill in front after a fine move, before Natalie Jones added a second. Lucy Hurst sealed victory with number three after the break.
