New Captain at Stamford Golf Club Ian Grimsditch.
IAN GRIMSDITCH is in fine voice after being elected captain at Stamford.
The 57-year-old is renowned at the Carrbrook club for his karaoke singing at club functions.
Ian, who lives in Hadfield, has been a member at Stamford for 23 years, joining not long after his father became a member and got him involved.
In his youth, Ian was a keen footballer, playing in the Hyde Sunday League.
And it was only after he finished playing that he turned to golf.
A five handicapper, he has always been competitive, clinching two victories in the club championship, a win in the 36-hole scratch Morris Medal and three other majors.
Ian, who has also had a hole-in-one while playing New Forest Golf Club, is hoping to help Stamford continue its improvements.
“We have a great course and clubhouse and we have one of the cheapest memberships in the area,” he remarked.
Married to Silvana, Ian has two daughters, one son and one grandchild.
He is a partner in Mossley-based Victoria Fans, a company he helped found 25 years ago and which has 11 employees.
Ian’s aim will be to raise money for research into motor neurone disease, an illness which claimed the life of his mother.
