Kris keeps his cool in play-off

KRIS Sutcliffe snatched a dramatic 3-2 victory for Crompton and Royton at Romiley in the second round of the Mail On Sunday Classic.
With the score at 2-2, Sutcliffe was all square after 18 holes in the deciding match.
And he triumphed at the first play-off hole for the High Barn club, whose other winners were David Brooks (3 & 1) and Mark Barrett (7 & 5).
The captain’s drive-in, a four-man team Stableford, saw Brooks, Steven Barrett, Brad Cannings and David Lord win with 80 points.
Runners-up with 79 were Andrew Simpson, Gary Melling, Scott O’Leary and James Frizzell jnr.
Crompton and Royton will be the first local club to hold their invitation day. It is on Saturday, April 11.

MIKE Williams was the clear winner of the first-division prize in the first monthly medal of the season at STAMFORD.
Williams’ return of 76-13-63 gave him a four-shot victory.
John Jenkinson (81-15-66) edged the second division by one shot from Alan Hood (81-14-67), while taking top spot by six shots in the third division was Derek Johnston (87-20-67).
CAPTAIN’S drive-in at BROOKDALE produced a victory for Chris Boyle and Colin Renwick with 44 points in the four-ball Stableford.
Runners-up were Gary Smith and Steve Hankinson (43), third were Mark Morrow and Doug Jones (42), while fourth place went to John Hughes and Howard Buckley (41).
The President’s Shotgun, a Texas scramble, was won by Geoff Allen, Colin Taylor, Paul Deighton and David Taylor with a score of 53.7.
Second were Pete Thornley, Mark Morrow, Doug Jones and Gary Lever (54.2), while third place went to Ross Rosengrove, Peter McQuilliam, Andy Walsh and Stuart Naismith (54.8).
WERNETH captain’s drive-in, a four-ball Stableford, was won by Pete Davies and Dale Hobson (43 points) on the card from Lawrence Dawson and Adrian Buckley.
OLDHAM’S medal saw Ian Radcliffe (69-5-64) claim the first-division prize, on the card from Rick Fallon (69-5-64). Third was Dave Kay (75-10-65).
Geoff Allen (84-19-65) claimed top spot in division two. Runner-up was Alan Chadwick (84-18-66), on the card from Colin Kost.
Steve Hunt and Dave Ganley (47 points) headed the field in a four-ball Stableford, on the card from runners-up Tony Doidge and Peter Dowd, and Stuart Wagstaffe and Terry Garrett.
SADDLEWORTH lady captain’s drive-in, a 12-hole Stableford, was won by Jenny Knight and Julie Ward (28 points). Second were Jane Wild and Dawn White (27).
