Chadds defeat hits title hopes

THERE were mixed fortunes for local sides in the Lancashire Amateur League premier division.

Chaddertonians suffered a body blow to their outside hopes of the title as they went down 2-0 at Bury GSOB, but Failsworth Dynamos recorded a 5-3 win over Bolton Wyresdale.

Chadds dominated the early stages of their game, but in a five-minute spell before the break, they had Steve Barrow sent off, they had Nick Murphy carried off and went behind to a sloppy goal.

They continued to press Bury, but conceded a second goal late on.

Chadds reserve team gave a good account of themselves at second-in-the-table Howe Bridge Mills in division one, before going down 3-2. Adam Flint scored both consolation goals.

Failsworth Dynamos reserves and their Broughton Amateur counterparts shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw in division three, Chadds ‘A’ were beaten 6-0 at Chew Moor Brook reserves in division four.

Oldham Hulmeians beat Thornleigh ‘B’ 3-1 to remain on course for promotion from division six.

Elliot McKinnell led the scoring with a brace and Danny Proffitt netted the other.

Hulmeians ‘A’ rallied from two goals down to win 6-2 at Bolton Wyresdale ‘B’ in division seven. Lee Kerwin, Phil Yates and Scott Edge shared the goals.

Hulmeians ‘B’ drew 2-2 with Bury GSOB ‘B’ in a bottom-of-the-table clash in division seven. Ray Wallace and Jonathan Hardisty were on target for the local side.

Meanwhile, Chadds ‘B’ continued their good run with a 4-2 win at Castle Hill ‘A’. On target were Rob Fielding (two), Mike Duxbury and Dean Clucas.
