Derby test for locals

OLDHAM Town and Mossley are tonight involved in mouth-watering derby matches.
Town are at home to Rochdale Town in the first division of the Vodkat North West Counties League while Mossley entertain Woodley Sports in UniBond League, first division north.
Manager Tony Mills admits Town have blown their promotion hopes after picking up only two points from a possible nine.
“It has been frustrating because other results at the top have gone our way, but we have been unable to capitalise,” explained Mills.
Rochdale are third from bottom and their disappointing results last week cost former Athletic and Manchester City midfield man Mike Lester his job as manager.
Mid-table Mossley’s form has been erratic, though they will be fired up for the visit of Woodley who they defeated 4-1 at Lambeth Grove in November.
It has been a case of win one, lose one for the Lilywhites in the last four matches as they have blown hot and cold.
CHADDERTON’S spirited finish to the season is a contrast to last season when they suffered a dramatic collapse, losing five of their last six games as their bid for honours evaporated.
The Broadway club is currently unbeaten in five games and manager Paul Buckley said: “Last year fizzled out disappointingly and I have had a chat with the players about avoiding a repeat.”
Chadderton reserves drew 1-1 at top-of-the-table Padiham where the hosts equalised with a last-minute penalty. Andrew Potts was the Broadway club’s scorer.
