BROOKDALE’S double-winning A and B teams took a leaf out of Ryder Cup celebrations to pose for their team photographs.
They won both divisions in the Oldham and District Golf League and have among their ranks top sports photographer Chris Gleave, captain of the ‘B’ team.
He got both together and used the same pose when he last photographed the victorious European Ryder Cup team.
They are now preparing to defend their titles as the new league beings later this month.
The league’s KO cup draw has thrown up two in-house encounters.
Both Saddleworth and Stamford will host first-round ties between their own A and B teams in what are sure to be encounters to savour.
Two ‘B’ teams are guaranteed a quarter final place as Brookdale ‘B’ and Dukinfield ‘B’ will meet at Werneth and the corresponding Denton and Ashton sides clash at Oldham.
That threw up two all ‘A’ team clashes, Werneth and Denton at Brookdale and holders Dukinfield against Oldham at Denton.
The other ties see Oldham ‘B’ taking on league champions Brookdale ‘A’ at Ashton and Ashton ‘A’ going to Dukinfield to meet Werneth ‘B’
The ties are to be played on w/c May 25 and this year, for the first time, all first-round losers will go into a Plate competition.
