HEYSIDE first and second teams will start the Saddleworth and District Cricket League season on minus 20 points after their appeal against punishment last night.

The Little Hey Street outfit’s fine of £500, half of which was suspended until the end of 2010, must now be paid in full before the new campaign begins.

And the club must pay the league £100 towards the cost of their appeals.

A further 20-point sentence, suspended to the end of the 2010 season, has now been increased to 40.

However, the league has rescinded the decision to withdraw Heyside’s nomination from this season’s Barclays Wealth LCB Cup and the club is free to play in that competition.

Heyside were found guilty at a disciplinary hearing in March of failing to control their players and spectators at last year’s Tanner and Moore Cup finals.
