CRANBERRY AC’s match on Partridge Fisheries Pine Lake saw Alan Steel in pole position with his 18lb net made up of carp and silvers that fell for the tip and corn.

Jim Wild was second with his pole, tip, pellet and corn approach tempting 17lb 14oz of silver fish and small carp.

Rod Illing was third with a 13lb 8oz mixed bag, beating Chris Bold into fourth with 12lb 13oz.

MEDLOCK Bridge AC start their open matches on Alexandra Park lake tomorrow. Draw time is 9am in the main car park with the match fished 10am to 3pm. Tickets are £13 all in on the day.

Medlock have a cracking portfolio of venues with the park lake, Strinesdale Reservoir and Foulwater Reservoir on their books.

The club offers a family membership which costs just £50. Senior membership is £34, OAP’s/Disabled is £17 and Juniors £11.

Day tickets on Strinesdale and the park lake are £4 on the bank while OAP’s/Disabled and Juniors are £3.

TONY SIMCOCK has been having some cracking catches on the park lake with one session seeing him net over 80 chub around the 6oz mark. Another session saw him put over 20lb into his net, with roach in the 4oz to 8oz bracket falling for bronze maggot fished on the pole and waggler.

TODMORDEN AS have a new licence outlet in Todmorden Pet Shop, 25 Halifax Road, Todmorden. Tight Lines in Shaw and Sheddings Angling in Oldham also sell the membership cards.

PETE CUNIFFE (Gilders) is on a real run at the moment, with some good results in open matches.
In the 41-peg Blundells open match, Pete took second place with his pole and caster fished up in the water netting him 77lb 4oz of carp.

Even that was way behind winner Kerry Kirkwood whose pole and caster tactics tempted 122lb 6oz of decent-sized carp.

Steve Fitzpatrick (Tight Lines Shaw) also made the frame on Blundells with a second place in the rover match fished on East, West and Oak lakes.

Caster fished up in the water seems to be the favoured method and it was this that gave Steve his 82lb 8oz of carp, with the biggest touching the 8lb mark. Dave Simpson was the winner with 88lb 15oz of carp.

TODMORDEN AS still have an outstanding order of fish with 2,500 ide that were due to be delivered on April 9 but were cancelled owing to the Environment Agency refusing to issue Section 30 consents.

By all accounts the Yorkshire area of the Environment Agency have always consented previously to ide being stocked but on this occasion refused to sanction it.

The club still have carp, tench and barbel on order and these will be stocked shortly.
