Jewitt to join Oldham

OLDHAM will this week confirm the signing of their former player Paul Jewitt as professional for the 2009 Lake Garage CLL season.

Jewitt, who played for Friarmere in the Saddleworth and District League last summer, made his name as an amateur at Oldham, playing a starring role in the club’s 1983 Wood Cup final victory over Heywood.

Oldham had been searching for an English-based professional after their attempts to sign last year’s paid man Chinthaka Jayasinghe (Sri Lanka) and Hendrick van der Dussen (South Africa) fell through.
