MOSSLEY are desperate to finish their UniBond League, division one north campaign on a winning note against Rossendale United tomorrow.

The Lilywhites, who have picked up only one point from their last five league matches, need to rediscover their winning touch in order to lift spirits for Wednesday’s Manchester Premier Cup final against Droylsden at Boundary Park.

Manager Chris Willcock is upbeat despite Tuesday’s 6-1 defeat at leaders Durham City against whom they conceded five second-half goals.

He said: “We more than matched Durham in the first half and were controlling the game. Had we taken our chances we could have been ahead.

“Our ’keeper (James Mann) had an off-day in the second half, making two mistakes.

“After that it was all downhill as you could see confidence drain from us.”

Mossley will again be without striker Clive Moyo-Modise who is in Germany having trials with top club Eintracht Frankfurt.

Moyo-Modise, who was a professional at Rochdale, is a former South African under-21 international.

OLDHAM Town have a tough match at home to Bootle, first division leaders in the Vodkat North-West Counties League.

Manager Tony Mills’ squad has been severely hit by injury, holidays and work commitments, though there is a glimmer of hope tomorrow as Leon Melia, Lee and Darren Scanlan, Andy Smith and Danny Pearson all return.

But goalkeeper Matty Blair, who has a knee injury, and central defender Tim Buxton, who has broken two metatarsal bones in his foot, are absentees.

CHADDERTON, who have lost their last two matches, are away to lowly Norton United in the first division of the Vodkat NWCL.

The Broadway club’s reserve team travel to Bootle tomorrow.
