Cricket’s title in last-day drama

COMRADES A missed out on the Saw-Tech Shaw Snooker League title on a dramatic last day.
Going in to the final fixtures, Comrades were on top. But they slipped to a 5-1 defeat against close rivals Crompton Cons who hoisted themselves from third to second spot.
The title went to Cricket B, 5-1 winners at Royton Cons B, in one of the closest championship battles for many years.

Moss Inn still in honours hunt
BREAKS of 46 from Russ Bedford and 35 from P Grogan helped Moss Inn to a 5-1 victory over Blue Club A in the Oldham Amateur Snooker League, a win that keeps them in third place.
A 43 break from Colin Hopkinson was enough to take his frame for Royton Band and with his team-mates all following suit, Royton Band completed a 6-0 whitewash over North Chadd.
Nick Broadbent’s 33 clearance for St Paul’s gave him the important third frame as they recorded a 5–1 victory away at Stanley Road. League leaders Deaf B had a 5-1 win at home against CBC and with second-placed Springbank A winning 4-2 at Little Cot, Deaf’s lead at the top of the table is now five points.
Oldham Cricket and Nimble Nook are inseparable at the top of the card table, sharing the lead on 84 points.
