MOSSLEY produced a gallant display in their 2-1 defeat by Droylsden in the Manchester Premier Cup final at Boundary Park last night.
The Lilywhites had the better of the chances in a goalless opening half, including a Danny Egan effort which was disallowed for offside.
Droylsden took charge in the early stages of the second half, scoring twice, before Mossley hit back.
They halved the deficit through an own goal and they thought they had equalised in the dying minutes when Ben Richardson found the net with a diving header, only for the effort to be ruled out for offside.
Town slump to defeat
OLDHAM TOWN lost 2-1 at Cheadle Town in a Vodkat North West Counties League, first division match they dominated.
Cheadle took the lead courtesy of Phil Clawley on the stroke of half-time, and went further ahead through Ben Brooks in the 70th minute.
Town pulled a goal back at the death when Stuart McGill fired home from 35 yards.
