MONARCH AC held their first match in 12 months on the club water where Andrew Chadwick fished maggot shallow to catch ide and roach to 2lb in a winning 12lb 2oz net.
Dave Taylor was second with his pellet fished at 11 metres netting him 10lb 2oz of ide and roach. Third place went to organiser Craig Bradford with his 8lb 10oz catch of chub and skimmers to 2lb falling to the pole and pellet.
CRANBERRY AC’s match on Blundells Fisheries Thorn Canal was a low- weight affair with winner Jim Wild really ringing the changes between maggot, caster, meat and pellet.
It obviously worked as he almost trebled the next anglers catch with 14lb 8oz of carp, tench, skimmers and roach.
Derek Hudson was second with an all-silvers 5lb 8oz catch on maggot, caster and worm beating Tony Lees into third with a level 2lb of small silvers. Chris Bold was next with a 1lb 12oz.
THE Medlock Bridge AC open match on the park lake was won by Paul Cunliffe (Gilders) with a super net of roach and chub.
Drawn on peg 23 at the side of the bridge, Paul started on the pole and maggot and got stuck into roach and chub before the wind got up and a switch to the waggler kept the fish coming to weigh in 11lb 4oz.
Organiser Darren Webb (Medlock Bridge) caught mostly chub before catching two tench around the one pound mark and losing a good fish to finish with 10lb 12oz.
Billy Brierley (Team HB) had 7lb 6oz of roach and chub, easing Steve Clegg (Saints) into fourth with two good tench and a few roach and chub.
THE Todmorden AS open match fished on the Rochdale Canal at Smithybridge saw anglers catching fish along the full length with winner Dave Brierley (Fox Match) catching plenty of skimmers on the pole and punch to weigh in 25lb 13oz.
John Walker (Little Lever), well known for his prowess on canals, took second on the day with his bread-punch approach netting him 23lb 2oz of skimmers.
Lennie Fosdyke took third with his caster attack tempting 19lb 15oz of skimmers.
