ROS HENDREN triumphed in two competitions at CROMPTON AND ROYTON.

Her first success came in an EWGA medal as her round of 92-22-70 earned her a six-shot victory over Margaret Hornby (110–34–76).

That was followed by a win in the Bunny Competition, a 13-hole Stableford, with 35 points.

The qualifier for the Scott Leggatt Foursomes saw Jean Heathcote and Maureen Delaney triumph with a score of 71.5.

Runners-up were Val Hall and Shirley Brown (72), on the card from Rita Bradley and Norma Hilton.

Through to the next round of the competition at Great Lever and Farnworth are Val Hall and Shirley Brown, Zoe Styles and Noreen Nicholson, Amanda Delaney and Karen Heywood.

Winners of a three-ball goulash competition were Jennifer Sykes, Margaret Hornby and Sheila Parkinson with 62 points.

Runners-up were Chris Rimmer, Noreen Nicholson and Kath Clinton (61), on the card from Zoe Styles, Brenda Keaney and Anne Shaw.

And first place in a 13-hole Stableford was Irene Carr with a score of 25 points.

Hilary Ryder, Joan Ribchester and Lin Yiu won a team Stableford at BLACKLEY, amassing 71 points.

Runners-up were Myra Glennon, Doreen Heneghan and Barbara Roberts (70), on the card from Cath Ruddy, Jean Royle and Susan Oldham.

Another team Stableford produced a win for Cath Ruddy, Anne Tyrer and Marilyn Black with 66 points.

Second were Clarice Morris, Brenda Hall and Eunice Cunliffe (64) while third place went to Brenda Simpson, Barbara Roberts and Ruth Smith (63).

Cath Ruddy (70) won a medal on the card from Doreen Heneghan, while Anne Kay triumphed in a two-ball Stableford with 32 points from Hilary Ryder (31).

WERNETH’S qualifier for the Scott Leggatt saw Lisa Hall and Glynis Jones win with a score of 97–30.4-66.6.

Tied for second were Marilyn Griffin and Madge Griffiths (102-25.5-76.5) along with Judith Wilkinson and Brenda Martin (106-29.5-76.5).

Bev Scholes and Jane Antrobus will represent OLDHAM in the Scott Leggatt after winning the club qualifier with a round of 80-13-67. Runners-up were Lynn Kershaw and Chris Peirson (86-17-69).

Oldham defeated Crompton and Royton 6.5–0.5 in the Lancashire Shield.

SADDLEWORTH’S EGWA No 2 medal was won by Kathy Scott (88-20-68) from Kay Orme (76-5-71).

A nine-hole Stableford was won by Gwyneth Whippwith 21 points from Jean Hurst (18).




DR Kershaw’s Hospice received £630 from Crompton and Royton, the proceeds from a women’s charity shotgun tournament.



A team from Shipley-based Northcliffe emerged the victors while Hesketh were runners-up. In third place were a team comprising home players Lynn Truelove and Marjorie Bray, Mary Buckley (Oldham) and Kath Johnson (Halifax West End).
