STUART CARROLL smashed his personal best and set a high standard for this year’s Royton Road Runners marathon prize with a time of 2hrs 58mins 57sec for the London Marathon.
This beat the previous club marathon record held by Barry Greaves (2:59:28, Berlin 2004).
Dave Kershaw also recorded a personal best of 3.06:02, while Bryan Lawton and Martin Kay completed the race with times of 3.18:38 and 3.27:19 respectively.
Other Royton finishers were: Debbie Shaw (3.41:20), Steve Shaw (3.59:08), Paul Walters (3.59:13), Teresa Hollins (4.01:40) and Neil Barker (5.01:31).
