Jack Bottomley-Clift with his trophy
CROMPTON and Royton’s Jack Bottomley-Clift has been crowned South East Lancashire Schools champion.
The 14-year-old pupil from Crompton House triumphed in the event at the Marriott Worsley Park.
Jack (above) shot a round of 78-7-71 to head the field which comprised 68 of the area’s top young golfers.
And it was an unexpected victory because Jack was up against golfers two years his senior.
Jack has been playing golf since the age of eight and joined Crompton and Royton two years ago.
In that time he has reduced his handicap from 24 to 13 and, in January, right down to seven.
“Jack has finished runner-up in a couple of men’s competitions at the club, but this is the best thing he has won so far,” explained father Andrew Bottomley.
