Sisters fight it out in cup final

JANE ANTROBUS defeated her sister Sheila in the final of the Buckley Cup, a matchplay knockout at OLDHAM.
The final, held over from last season, saw Jane emerge the victor by a 3 & 2 margin.
Liz Johnson romped to victory in the Spring Meeting with a score of 84-15-69.
Runner-up was Linda Hall (92-21-71) while Mary Buckley and Lynn Kershaw both returned 72.
The best gross score was 72 from Jackie Lees.
Edythe Turner triumphed in a par competition with a score of three up, the same return as runner-up Chris Peirson. Linda Bailey and Florence Jacks were level par.
Rita Bradley lifted the Centenary Trophy, an EWGA medal, at CROMPTON AND ROYTON, after a round of 97-23-74.
Two shots behind in second spot was Noreen Nicholson (101-25-76).
Winners of an American greensome were Christine Rimmer and Margaret Hornby (68.5). Runners-up were Karen Heywood and Amanda Delaney (70.5) on the card from Lynn Truelove and Marjorie Bray.
The club has triumphed in two of its first three matches in the Lancashire Scratch Shield.
They have beaten Haydock Park and Preston at home, but lost away to Haydock Park.
Zoe Styles (4 & 3), Truelove (3 & 2) and Pauline Givvons (3 & 2) helped the High Barn club defeat Park 3-2 at home.
Heywood (4 & 3), Styles (4 & 3), Truelove (5 &4) and Givvons (3 & 1) recorded victories against Preston.
But in the 3.5-1.5 defeat at Park there were no victories, but halves for Heywood, Bernice Fitton and Truelove.
Noreen Nicholson (2 up) and Jennifer Sykes (5 & 4) were the victors in a 3-2 defeat at Swinton Park in the Lancashire Bronze Shield.
But the team reversed the defeat in the return against Park winning 5.5-1.5 through Shirley Brown, Margaret Butterworth, Val Hall, Nicholson and Elaine Burston. Jennifer Kenworthy halved her match.
An EWGA charity day medal at WERNETH was won by Fiona Dooley (73-5-68) who was five shots clear of runner-up Pat Grant (101-28-73).
Sue Oldham holds a five-shot lead going into the second round of Lady Captain’s Prize at BLACKLEY after a round of 91-22-69.
Heading the challengers is second-placed Jeanette Ryder (88-14-74) while third place went to Denise Hurst (94-18-76).
