HONOURS were shared as the derby duel between Springhead and Failsworth Macedonia in the Site Electrical North Manchester League ended in a tie.

Both sides were bowled out for 160 in the division one clash.

Sunday’s Calverley Cup games proved a huge disappointment for the local teams, with both Springhead and Failsworth Macedonia going out at the first hurdle.

Scores are —

Saturday, division one: Springhead 160, Failsworth Macedonia 160.

Division two: Failsworth Macedonia IIs v Saddleworth IIIs — abandoned; Roytonians 164, Clifton IIIs 101-9.

Sunday, Calverley Cup, round one: Ashton Ladysmith 159-9, Springhead 154-7; Failsworth Macedonia 90, Tottington St Johns 156-7.


Ashton and Oldham Cricket Alliance

RAIN meant only one match was completed in the Ashton and Oldham Cricket Alliance.

Heyside, after compiling 209 for six, restricted opponents Europa Exiles to 121 for nine.

In the other game to start, Friends made 145 for four from 33 overs against Newtonhurst. Rain prevented any more play.
