Stubbs in bid for title

SHAW boxer Darren Stubbs is to fight for the vacant Central Area light-heavyweight title later this month.
The 37-year-old will take on Sheffield’s Carl Wild over 10 rounds at Tara Sports and Leisure Centre, Shaw, on Sunday, May 24.
This will be Stubbs’ first action since he finished runner-up in February’s live televised Prizefighter tournament, a knockout involving eight light-heavyweights.
Stubbs is a former British Masters and International Masters title holder.
Promoter Jack Doughty has three other fighters from his Shaw-based Tara stable on the bill - Shinny Bayaar, Alan Winterbottom and Answer Hussain.
The Mongolian-born Bayaar could soon be challenging for the British flyweight title after recently gaining British citizenship. He is also working as a fitness instructor in a gym in Sale.
