Farrow Cup winner Lance Greenwood (Springbank) receives the trophy from Veterans League chairman Bryan O’Neill (left).
SPRINGBANK’S Steve Copeland played a starring role as Central Lancs and Pennines made a fine start to their British Parks Championship campaign.
Taking on reigning champions South Yorkshire, Central were quick out of the traps, especially at the home venue of Crompton where Copeland inflicted a 21-3 defeat on the talented Chris Kelly.
Other single-figure wins at Crompton were recorded by Steve McHugh (Hopwood) and Barry Collinge (Syke), while Copeland’s Springbank team-mate Alan Hodson enjoyed a 21-11 romp against 2007 Moorside Classic winner David Hallam.
Central had four winners in the away leg at Crookesmoor as they won the group match 18-13 (427-398).
