JACQUIE BANHAM defends her women’s Chronicle Cup title at Werneth next Wednesday.
The retired company secretary lifted the major at her home Crompton and Royton course in dramatic circumstances 12 months ago.
Jacquie, currently lady vice-captain and who tees off her title defence at 12.30pm, was involved in a six-hole play off against her next-door neighbour and friend Mary Buckley.
Both players recorded exactly the same scores for the six extra holes though, when the handicap adjustments were taken into consideration, Jacquie triumphed by two-thirds of one shot.
There is a field of 71 at Werneth which also includes Oldham’s Mary Buckley who begins her round at 10.20am.
