JIM BRADBURY and Cec Wright — with a combined age of 137 — steered Uppermill to a last-ball win over Glodwick in division two.

The wily old campaigners came together with the Leafields outfit requiring 13 runs for victory with three overs remaining.

They still needed five from the final delivery, but cometh the hour, cometh the man as Jim smashed a six which landed in the car park behind the scorers’ hut.

“It was a good effort,” said Jim, who was the junior partner at 62 years of age. “We even ran a couple of twos.”

Jim finished unbeaten on 40, while 75-year-old Cec stuck around for nought not out.

THE Oldham Cricket Development Group have organised a two-coaching camp for juniors at Shaw Cricket Club next week.

It takes place on Thursday and Friday, May 28 and 29, at a cost of £15.

GREENFIELD under-17s, who were missing Chris Gill because of a groin strain, beat Ashton by 107 runs in the Lancashire County League.

Alex Peters and Ryan Fitton retired on 50 and 53 respectively as the Ladhill Lane outfit closed on 173 for four from their 20 overs.
