A PLAYER from the D&J Builders (North-West) Oldham Sunday League has been hit by a six-month suspension.
Ali Mubin, of division two side Oldham United, was given a 182-day suspension and fined £150 by the Manchester FA for assaulting a referee.
The disciplinary committee also found Mubin guilty of using threatening language in his side’s game against Limeside Athletic.
Mubin’s ban runs out on January 27 next year after which he can reapply for his registration to the Oldham Sunday League.
Meanwhile, it has been a season of near misses for top-flight outfit Coppice United.
They did brilliantly to reach three finals but, try as they might, they lost them all.
They were beaten 2-0 by Chaddy End FC in the Challenge Cup final at Boundary Park and lost on penalties to Oddies when the President’s Trophy was up for grabs.
Finally, they went down 4-1 to High Crompton in the Jack Abbott premier division shield final.
The last of the finals takes place at Chadderton FC’s Broadway ground this weekend.
The David Giblin division one shield is at stake when Khartoum Northern meet Crompton and Royton (kick-off noon).
