TONGE suffered a major blow to their Manchester Premier League title hopes when they lost 12-4 at home to Roses rivals Lower Hopton.
The visitors from Yorkshire had six winners in the 10 games, grabbing the aggregate bonus by a single point.
Their 187-186 victory took them alongside Tonge in second place and has set up an exciting title race, with new leaders South Manchester RBL, Lloyds Hotel and Garswood Hall also in with a chance.
Tonge’s winners against Lower Hopton were Jimmy Derby (21-13), Gary Ellis (21-15), Stuart Mort (21-14) and Laurence Hallett (21-19).
The team’s next game at the Lloyds Hotel was due to be played next Wednesday, but has been brought forward to Monday (7.30pm) because of the Champions’ League soccer final.
