Rogerson blast boosts Werneth

WERNETH yesterday completed a weekend double in style with a 10- wicket derby win at bottom club Oldham to climb to joint second in the table.

After defeating Monton & Weaste by five runs on Saturday, the Coppice club triumphed far more emphatically against their local rivals, who were shot out for only 60.

Werneth’s overseas amateur Jeffrey Rogerson claimed seven wickets for 10 runs as he ripped through the Oldham batting before Werneth knocked off the total without loss.

CROMPTON failed to make it a double success as they were well beaten losing by eight wickets to Walsden at Glebe Street.

After being bowled out for 127, Crompton were unable to defend such a low total as Walsden hit 131 for two in reply, professional Rasika Priyadarshana top scoring with 55.

ROYTON recovered from their derby defeat to Crompton with a four-wicket win at Monton & Weaste.

Professional Luke Procter took five wickets for 37 and Matthew Hodson three for 37 as Monton & Weaste were bowled out for 113.

Procter also top scored with 34 as Royton reached 114 for six in reply.

LITTEBOROUGH are the new leaders after weekend wins against Middleton and yesterday Milnrow, whom they defeated by 125 runs.

MIDDLETON, who began the weekend as leaders, suffered back-to-back defeats against Littleborough and Rochdale, who dismissed them for 71.

Best individual performance of the day came from UNSWORTH professional Wayne Madsen who scored 116 and took eight wickets for 51 in their 64-run win at Ashton.
