Derby facing busy time

NIMBLE Nook have three players taking part in the first heats of the £1,550 J W Lees Classic at Hopwood Unionist Club, Heywood, tonight (6.30).

Jimmy Derby takes on Sheffield’s Andy Mailer, Matt Gillies plays Warrington’s Charlie Bebbington and Darren Griffiths meets Pudsey’s James Hanson.

PAUL Heap and F McDermott (Chadderton) carry local hopes in the finals of the Brennan Paving mixed pairs at Norden BC on Sunday (4pm).

There are still vacancies in Norden’s Thwaites men’s pairs, starting on June 21 and for seven more qualifiers on Sunday nights.

The finals will be held on Sunday, August 16.
