Rob racks up Croft success

TODMORDEN AS held their latest club match on Croft fishery where Rob McKendry took first place with his mixed bag weighing in at 24lb falling to the pole and pellet.

Stan Buckley was second with a 23lb 5oz catch that fell to the pole, maggot and pellet. Dean Turner took third with his pole-fished caster accounting for 17lb 14oz of silver fish.


DESPITE horrendous wind, the Diggle AC Tuesday evening match on Tanners dam fished quite well with the top two posting double-figure weights.

Winner was Mick Henshaw with his 14lb 6oz catch made up of four carp and a few skimmers taken on the pole and pellet.

Second-placed Dave Machin fished the same method, netting two carp and some skimmers for 12lb 12oz,

Martin Taylor caught silvers steadily throughout to weigh 7lb 12oz.

Organiser Ian Walvin runs a lucky peg where a pound of everyone’s pools money goes into the kitty to be drawn on the night and this week’s winner was Paul Vickers after peg 15 was drawn out of the hat for the third week on the trot.


THE Medlock Bridge AC open match fished on the park lake was won by Darren Webb with a bream weighing in at 3lb 12oz together with chub and roach taken on the maggot and worm totalling 12lb 4oz.

Bob Harrison (Team HB) fished maggot and pellet at eleven metres for plenty of chub and perch to weigh 11lb 8oz.

Third place saw two anglers tying with Peter Hill and Steve Clegg (Saints) both weighing 10lb 9oz. Peter fished maggot at twelve metres for two bream and some chub while Steve had a bream and plenty of chub on the waggler and maggot.

Section winners were Billy Brierley with 5lb 6oz and Steve Crossley with 7lb 12oz.

This week’s match was won by Pete Cuniffe, with his pole and caster tactics netting him 19lb 5oz of caster and chub.

Bob Harrison (Team HB) was next with his skimmers and chub net also including four good bream that all fell to pellet fished at eleven metres.

Billy Brierley was third, with his pellets and maggots fished on the pole at eleven metres giving him 16lb 14oz, while section winners were John Nuttall with 8lb 15oz and Dave Pollitt 11lb 14oz.


CRANBERRY AC’s match on Bradshaw number eight lake was a low- weight affair with Eddie Sutton winning with 11lb 8oz of small carp and silver fish taken on short pole and red maggot.

Rod Illing was next with a level 7lb of carp and chub tempted by pellet fished across, followed by Jim Wild’s 4lb 2oz and Steve Wild’s 2lb.


LEES and Hey fished Martin Hall Farm and the winner was Jack Cubby with 18lb of small carp and chub that fell to chopped worm and caster fished at eleven metres.

Steve Blackburn was second with a carp and skimmer net tempted by maggot on the hook and weighing 12lb 14oz.

Organiser Keith Adams was next. With only two sections of his pole and maggot on the hook he caught a 3lb bream and plenty of bits for 8lb 2oz, beating Rod Steele into fourth 4lb 12oz.

The winners of the Billy’s Buses Pairs were Steve Blackburn and Mark Clarke.

Every Tuesday – Diggle AC evening matches on Tanners dam. Draw 5pm, fishing 5.30pm until dusk.

Every Thursday – Chadderton Mill AC summer series fished on club lodge. Draw 5.30pm, fish 6pm to dusk.
