AUSTERLANDS have an early chance for revenge when they visit Greenfield in the Armstrongs Office Furniture Saddleworth League tomorrow.
Last weekend the teams met in the first round of the Tanner Cup at Thorpe Lane and it was Greenfield who used home advantage to best effect, winning by 32 runs.
Austerlands, who the day before had comfortably seen off Droylsden in the league, need to bounce back to form tomorrow if they are to keep tabs on runaway leaders Bamford Fieldhouse.
Glodwick, who were crushed by Bamford in the league last weekend, will hope for better when they entertain Friarmere tomorrow in a dress rehearsal for the Tanner Cup second-round tie. Both clubs had a bye in the first round.
Saddleworth will look to boost their title credentials when they host struggling Droylsden, while Uppermill have the unenviable task of visiting in-form Bamford, though at least they go into the game in good heart, having enjoyed a cup success at Moorside last week.
Moorside host what could be one of the best contests of the day when derby rivals Heyside visit Turf Pit Lane.
Heyside have had a difficult start to the season, but Mark Barnes’ side showed real battling qualities in pushing Bamford all the way in the cup last weekend, finally succumbing by two wickets.
TOMORROW
Bamford v Uppermill, Glodwick v Friarmere, Greenfield v Austerlands, Moorside v Heyside, Saddleworth v Droylsden, Stayley v Hollinwood. Open date: Shaw.
