GREENFIELD ended a run of four straight defeats in the Armstrongs Office Furniture Saddleworth and District Cricket League on Saturday.
In one of only two games to defy the wet weather in division one, Jonathan Ainley’s team overcame derby rivals Saddleworth by 20 runs at Well-i-Hole.
The reverse fixture on Friday was abandoned with Greenfield 72 for three, but the rain stopped just in time for a 30 overs per side match to take place.
Taking first knock, teenagers Chris Gill and Adam Hayes hit 54 and 51 respectively as the visitors racked up 191 for five.
Requiring nearly six-and-a-half runs per over, victory for third-placed Saddleworth would narrow the gap on table-toppers Bamford Fieldhouse.
But Matt Cook, who made 56, had little support as the hosts slipped to 171 all out.

Division one: Greenfield 72-3 v Saddleworth — rain stopped play.
