Rawlinson effort in vain

THE Lake Garage CLL bowed out of the J W Lees Inter-League Competition when they lost by 94 runs to the North Lancashire and Cumbria League at Furness yesterday.
Taking first guard, the hosts made 245 for eight, Clifton’s Andy Hough taking two for 35 and Litleborough’s Phil Deakin two for 45.
In reply, the CLL were skittled for 149, despite a fine knock of 54 from Walsden’s James Rawlinson.
The CLL Colts side, captained by Werneth’s Matthew Taylor in the absence of the injured Tom Hardman, defeated their Ribblesdale League counterparts by 27 runs at Middleton.
Taylor made 31, Rochdale’s Adam Smith 62, Littleborough’s Curtis Maguire 43 and Heywood’s Danny Pawson an unbeaten 42 as the CLL scored 237 for four from 45 overs after winning the toss and taking first guard.
And the Ribblesdale League were bowled out for 210, Werneth’s Joe Taylor taking two for 23 off seven overs and Ashton’s Mohammed Abid two for 20.
Pawson was named man-of-the-match for his runs and two catches behind the stumps.
