Marathon first for Holdaway

ATTEMPTING his first full marathon, James Holdaway was the first Royton Road Runner to complete the Edinburgh event in a creditable time of three hours 48 minutes 28 seconds.
David Smith (4:18:20) was the next Royton runner to finish, followed by Vicky Bramley and Natalie Yates-Bolton, who crossed the line together in (4:54:37)
The Buxton Half Marathon saw two relatively new members taking part. Stuart Hulme, making his debut at the distance, recorded 1:30:48, while Dave Hall posted 1:36:24.
An entry of 41 Royton athletes took part in the Ian Casey Memorial Cowm Reservoir 5k race at Whitworth.
Leading the field for the club was Paul Whitehead in a time of 18 minutes 10 seconds. He closely followed by Dave Kershaw (18:12), Bernie Goodwin (18:23) and Stuart Hulme (18:36).
Andy O’Sullivan, race organiser, said that £400 would be donated to local charities the Whitworth area.
