WERNETH, Crompton and Royton will carry local hopes in the quarter-finals of the CLL’s John Willie Lees Twenty20 Competition.
Werneth were already through before Friday’s last round of group matches, but Crompton and Royton booked their place in the last eight.
Royton defeated Oldham at the Pollards in a match reduced to 18 overs per side.
Luke Procter hit a magnificent unbeaten 90 off 35 balls against his former club as Royton amassed 145 for three.
And, despite Paul Thompson’s unbeaten 49, Oldham were restricted to 121 for seven in reply.
Crompton’s match at Milnrow was rained off, but a bowl-out was staged which Crompton won 2-1. The Glebe Street men go to Werneth in the quarter-finals.
After winning their first two group matches, Werneth did not need to beat Ashton at the Coppice so they were not too worried when rain washed out the fixture and the visitors won 2-1 in a bowl-out.
