Festival double for in-form Robinson

JULIAN ROBINSON featured twice as a winner as home players dominated the prizes during Festival Week at Blackley.
Winners of the four-man team Stableford were Alan and Peter Lane, Andy O’Neill and Robinson with a score of 110 points.
They finished well clear of runners-up Andrew Burton, Alistair White, A Nield and B Waterfield who scored 102.
Robinson’s other victory came when he teamed up with P Fenton in Invitation Day.
Runners-up in that event were Keith Liddle and N Dibble while third place went to Brian Window and K Lindley.
Home players took the top two places in the seniors open which was won by Kevin Baker and John Hall with 46 points in the Stableford.
Frank Howard and Ian Lowe (45pts) were second while third place went to S Lavalee and P Jefford, from Castle Hawk.
Winners of the mixed open were husband and wife Henry and Margaret Ellis with 42 points.
Kath Ruddy and Jean Royle were also double winners in women’s events.
They were joined by Janet McFarland as the three triumphed in the ladies open with 74 points in the Stableford which was two clear of runners-up Denise Hurst, S Neilson and D Wood.
Ruddy and Royle (87-15-720 were victors in a greensome, on the card from Brenda Simpson and Myra Glennon (99-27-72). Third were Yuk-lyn Yiu and Esther McGarry (104-28.4-75.6).
