Carroll leads the way

OVER 500 athletes completed the popular Freckleton Half Marathon. Stuart Carroll was the first of 21 Royton Road Runners to cross the line in 21st place, recording a time of 1:23:56.
He was pushed all the way with his clubmates Dave Kershaw 22nd (1:24:03) and Bernard Cassidy 25th (1:24:39). These three won third prize in the team event, while the next three home - Stuart Hulme 26th (1:24:40pb), Barry Greaves 31st (1:25:53) and David Emanuel 32nd (1:26:12) finished high enough for fourth place.
David Hall and Bryan Lawton had times of 54th (1:29:47) and 53rd (1:29:51) respectively.
The next Royton runner home was Robert Kellett 79th (1:33:22) followed by Michael Harrison 102nd (1:37:18), Dave Phillips 105th (1:37:35), Lewis Shaw 141st (1:41:16), David Smith 149th (1:42:08) and Andrew Nuttall 165th (1:42:33).
Other finishers were:- Tony Kane 216th (1:47:21), George Meynell 221st (1:47:50),James Holdaway 243rd (1:50:06), Teresa Hollins 250th (1:52:02), Jeff Cordwell 259th (1:51:41), Tony Hunking 420th (2:08:06) and Neil Barker 480th (2:18:24).
