JUST when you thought it was safe to throw away your boots, the call has gone out to players over the age of 35 to participate in competitive football.

Entries are being sought for the Greater Manchester Veterans League, which has been set up in association with the Manchester FA.

It is proposed to have two leagues of two divisions each, on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons. The Friday Night League will be played at a central venue under floodlights.

Each team has to be affiliated to the Manchester County FA, unless they are already connected to an existing club.

The new league has also attracted a good deal of interest.

Application forms and entry fees must be received no later than Friday, July 24.

For more details, call Manchester County FA development manager Colin Bridgford or Fiona Callaghan on (0161) 604 7625 or 07903 823 314.
