CROMPTON and Royton’s inaugural mixed team shotgun was won by the home team of Karen Heywood, her father Jim Keogh, Jean Heathcote and Alan Shaw.

They amassed 77 points to win by one from Alex, Chris and Pauline Givvons (Crompton and Royton) and Saddleworth’s Janice Nicholson.

In third place with 76 points were the home team of Peter Meggison, Paul Harrison, Noreen Nicholson and Elaine Burston.

The event was the idea of Lady Captain Lynn Truelove and, together with ladies committee member Irene Carr, the pair worked hard to make it become a reality.

Runaway winner of the Elizabeth Cup at BROOKDALE was Vicky Akin with a score of 83-19-64. She finished seven shots clear of Angie Hunter whose return was 96-25-71.

WERNETH’S two-ball Stableford saw Lisa Hall record a runaway victory after amassing 43 points.

The first division sweep went to Jane Fletcher (37pts) from Eileen Fallows (35) while in the second the honours were claimed by Stephanie Cocks (35) from Betty Keating (33).

SADDLEWORTH’S Texas scramble was won by Ann Head, Ann Walsh and Linda Newman with a score of 75-6.6-68.4 while second spot went to Jane Wild, Hazel Rogerson and Sheila Cooper with 78-8-70.

Top spot in a medal went to Head (81-15-66) who finished four shots clear of second-placed Wild (92-22-70).

BLACKLEY have enjoyed a successful run in the Lancashire Handicap Shield, beating North Manchester 4-3, Bolton Old Links 4.5-2.5 and Ashton-under-Lyne 4-3 as well as drawing 3.5-3.5 at Bolton Old Links.
