Steve takes top spot

LEES and Hey AA’s match on Highfield Fisheries Ash Lake saw some good weights with winner Steve Blackburn fishing tight close in with meat on the hook to catch 37lb 12oz of barbell to 2lb.

Steve Sharples took second with an all-carp net in the 2-3lb bracket that weighed 30lb 9oz and fell to meat fished next to an aerator.

Jack Cubby showed he’s lost none of the magic with a third-best 26lb 4oz. Jack fished the pole and pellet at eleven metres to catch all carp, beating Keith Adams with a 22lb 14oz net made up of skimmers and a 6lb 14oz carp that fell to the pole and tip.

Winning pair were Jack Cubby and Steve Sharples.




MEDLOCK Bridge AC’S match on Strinesdale Reservoir was won for the third time on the trot by Bill Brierley, who fished his favoured maggot up in the water to record 18lb 8oz of roach and chub.



Darren Webb (Medlock Bridge AC) took second with 18lb 5oz of skimmers and roach, while Steve Hall chose pellet fished on the deck for his 14lb 5oz of skimmers and third place.




THE Gilders customers match fished on Heronbrook Fisheries saw 200 anglers trying to win the £1,000 cash and £2,000 in tackle donated by the Failsworth tackle shop.



Winner was Denton angler Geoff Wyatt with his all-carp 105lb 14oz net taken on pole-fished pellet from his peg on Meadow Pool.

Next was Graham Davies with another carp net from Meadow Pool that reached 105lb 10oz, while third was Tony Shelley with 98lb 10oz of carp. Leading lady angler was Dorothy Lofthouse with 14lb 14oz.




PAUL HILL won the latest Chadderton Mill AC match on the club water - taking advantage of in-form organiser Lee Humphries being on holiday to land 43lb 8oz, including three carp for 11lb and plenty of ide.



Darren Webb (Medlock Bridge AC) was second with 30lb 13oz of ide, beating Ian Cox with 26lb 8oz of carp and silver fish. Gerry Lees (Gilders) took fourth with 22lb 8oz.




DARREN JONES (Tight lines Shaw took first place in the latest Oldham Central AC match fished on Hampton Springs Oasis Lake.



A carp of 7lb was Darren’s feature fish, but he added a mass of small skimmers, with his corn bait fished tight to an island netting him fish to 6oz.

Paul Nield (Gilders) was joint second with paste fished at five metres tempting carp, barbel and tench from his featureless peg to weigh in 23lb 13oz.

Kevin Holt was third with carp and barbel taken from the margins also netting him 23lb 13oz. Malc Taylor (Gilders) was next with a 19lb 3oz mixed bag that fell to corn fished to an island.




STEVE CLEGG (Saints) showed his class in the Cargate Pool Monday evening open with a resounding 13lb 14oz win.



Fishing pellet over micros at 13 metres, Steve caught nine skimmers together with a few small roach and perch taken on maggot fished shallow.

Bob Harrison (Team HB) was second, alongside Dave Pollitt, as both weighed in 4lb of roach and perch taken on maggot fished on the drop at seven metres.




THE eighth round of the Cairo AC summer league fished on Denshaw Vale was won by Darren Jones (Tight lines) with his pole and pellet approach netting him 5lb 9oz of bream and skimmers.



Paul Lord was second with pole and maggot accounting for 5lb 7oz of carp and skimmers, beating Malc Taylor (Gilders) who tipped a golden orfe, roach and skimmer net on the scales for 3lb 11oz in a match that was affected by blustery winds.

VENUE GUIDE



Huddersfield Narrow Canal – Skimmers, carp and chub all showing for pleasure anglers fishing the SADAS lengths above Uppermill.

Rochdale Canal – Some big fish feeding, with tench and bream showing to big baits. Best times are dawn and dusk.

Chadderton Mill lodge – Some good-sized carp falling to paste fished down the edge. Maggot on the hook fished really shallow and feeding caster for 50lb bags of ide.

Park Lake – Fishing really well for roach and chub with maggot and caster the best baits. Pellet for bream and tench.
