CHADDERTON and Oldham Town have both been handed tough FA Cup draws.

In the extra-preliminary round on Saturday, August 15, Chadderton play hosts to Atherton Collieries while Oldham Town head to Wakefield to play Nostell Miners Welfare.

Chadderton are playing opponents from one division higher in the Vodkat North West Counties League while Town tackle a team from the Northern Counties East.

Nostell are the team which last season sold striker Oli Johnson to Stockport County for whom he made a big impact in Coca-Cola League One.

Should the pair progress they will come up against even tougher opponents in the preliminary round on Saturday, August 29 as each would play UniBond League, division one north teams.

Chadderton would play hosts to Radcliffe Borough and Town would travel to Chorley.

Mossley, who enter the FA Cup at the preliminary-round stage, have been drawn away to UniBond League, premier division side Cammell Laird.

Chadderton head to Vodkat League, premier division side Formby in the first round of the FA Vase on Saturday, September 5.

Oldham Town, who enter the competition in the second qualifying round on Saturday, September 19, are away to either AFC Blackpool or Maine Road.

Should Chadderton progress they would be at home to either Padiham or St Helens Town.

Mossley have been drawn at home to Bedworth United in the preliminary round of the FA Trophy on Saturday, October 3.

If they are successful they have a long trip to Lincolnshire to play Spalding United in the first qualifying round.

CHADDERTON tonight continue their pre-season games with a home friendly against West Lancashire League side Stoneclough.

They will be bidding to extend their unbeaten run having drawn 3-3 against Hyde United and beaten Marine 1-0 on Saturday through a Dave Glynn goal.

Chadderton, whose goalkeeper Lee Swanson played a blinder against Marine, are also at home on Thursday against Manchester League side Springhead.

Manager Paul Buckley’s only worry is a lack of firepower with Carl Taylor absent through playing cricket in the CLL for Crompton while Micky Green’s work commitments means he can only play occasionally.

Buckley is keen to beef up his front line and would be interested to hear from any front player.

MOSSLEY kick off their pre-season programme tomorrow at home to Coca-Cola League One side Bury.
