Macedonia suffer shock defeat

FAILSWORTH Macedonia thought they were on to a winner against Robinsons in division one of the Site Electrical North Manchester League.
Chasing just 113, they seemed set for only their third success of the season. But Macedonia subsided to 81 all out to stay second from bottom in the table.
Springhead produced a good effort with the bat to overhaul Ashton Ladysmith’s total of 254 for seven. They won with two wickets to spare.
Roytonians, bowled out for 122, went down to a five-wicket defeat at the hands of Littleborough thirds in division two.
Littleborough also inflicted a heavy defeat on Failsworth Macedonia seconds, while Saddleworth thirds still have their sights set on the title after a nine-run win over Rochdale thirds.
Greenfield’s third team were beaten by their Elton Vale counterparts in division three — the margin of defeat was six wickets — but there were wins for Uppermill thirds and Springhead seconds in division four.
Division one: Robinsons 112, Failsworth Macedonia 81; Ashton Ladysmith 254-7, Springhead 257-8.
Division two: Roytonians 122, Littleborough IIIs 123-5.
Division three: Greenfield IIIs 102, Elton Vale IIs 103-4.
Sunday, division two: Failsworth Macedonia IIs 69, Littleborough IIIs 70-3; Saddleworth IIIs 169, Rochdale IIIs 160.
Division four: Ashton Ladysmith IIs 142, Springhead IIs 145-5; Tottington St Johns IIs 185, Uppermill IIIs 186-9.
