WERNETH maintained their hold on second spot in the CLL under-18 competition for the Whittaker Cup after beating Bury by four wickets at The Coppice.
Bury were bowled out for 107 and Werneth made 108 for six.
Royton suffered a 96-runs defeat at Walsden.
The hosts posted a massive total of 246 for nine, Elliott Gilford – already in Walsden’s first team – top scoring with 55.
Royton were bowled out for 150 in reply.
Oldham lost by 54 runs to a strong Rochdale side at The Pollards.
Greg Butterworth scored 50 for Rochdale, who made 150 before they dismissed Oldham for 96.
Leaders Heywood beat Unsworth by 45 runs, Tom Hardman scoring 53 of the Crimble club’s 166.
Curtis Maguire hit 51 as Littleborough beat Middleton by 52 runs at Hare Hill.
