PAUL SULLIVAN reckons Greenfield will need to be at their very best to lift the Moore Cup.
The Ladhill Lane captain is wary Shaw’s greater experience could prove decisive on the day, but is also confident his side are capable of raising their game.
Sullivan said: “Shaw are probably a bit more hardened and are more likely to know what to do in a particular situation.
“We’ve got bags of potential, but we need one or two big performances, with other players chipping in.
“But our team is well-balanced. We can bat right down to number 11 and we’ve got seven bowlers.”
Greenfield are without key player Josh Higgins, who opens the bowling and batting.
The scorer of 400 runs this season, he is one of a clutch of promising youngsters at the club.
Lee Diggle and Ryan Fitton will open the batting, Joe Hepworth will keep wicket, while Tom Milne has is back from university to strengthen the batting.
The experience comes in the guise of Sullivan, Nigel Kippax, Richard Darby, John Wood and Jamil Khalil.
Although fourth in the table, Sullivan sees the Moore Cup as Greenfield’s best opportunity to take something from the season.
Like Shaw, they have won the knock-out competition on four occasions, including three times in the last eight years.
He said: “We lost three of our first four games and our Whit Friday match against Saddleworth was rained off.
“Our form has been good since then, but we have lost to Hollinwood (the leaders) twice and that has put a hole in our title ambitions.”
