FENTON TENNANT took the field apart in the latest SADAS members only match on Eagle Mill Dam.

Using the pole and caster approach, he landed bream, two tench, roach, perch and rudd for 19lb 2oz.

Alan Bolton (Tight Lines) was the runner-up. Opting for similar tactics, he had a bag of 14lb 10oz which consisted of three bream, along with plenty of crucians, roach, perch and chub.

Brian Murphy, in third place, used the caster and long pole method for a level 13lb of bream and small silvers.

MARTIN TAYLOR, of TRI-CAST Highfield, claimed the winner’s cheque in Tuesday evening’s Diggle AC match on Tanners Dam.

He had two carp of around the 12lb mark, together with one of 5lb and some roach on the pole, pellet and meat for a super 38lb.

A decent-sized carp behind was Dave Machin, who weighed in a 34lb 8oz net of two carp and plenty of skimmers on meat and paste at 13 metres.

Third was Tony Bizinski, who had a 4lb carp and some nice roach on maggot.

ORGANISER Steve Clegg is enjoying a profitable spell on Cargate pool and was in the money again in Monday evening’s match.

Three decent skimmers on 13 metres of pole and pellet, plus plenty of roach on maggot just a foot deep, accounted for a match-winning 9lb 2oz total.

The Saints rod finished some way clear of Bob Harrison’s three-pellet tempted skimmers and roach on maggot at 6lb 8oz.

Dave Pollitt usually plies his trade in Yorkshire, where his record is as good as anyone’s, and he was third with 5lb 15oz.

He had two skimmers and a tench on pellet and paste at 11 metres on the edge of lilies.

LEES and Hey AS visited Yorkshire’s Kandy Corner Fishery, where they were greeted with plenty of big fish.

They were happy to feed, but unfortunately only a few were landed.

John Warriner was the clearcut winner, registering a 39lb catch of seven carp. The biggest was 7lb 15oz on pellet and meat on the pole.

Far behind in second was Alan Steele, who had a 22lb 8oz net of carp on the pole and tip.

Like most anglers, Steele lost half-a-dozen or so big fish.

An 8lb 12oz carp was the feature of Steve Blackburn’s 17lb 2oz bag. He used pellet and meat.

Keith Adams had a torrid time, losing nine big carp and landing just one for a fourth-best 8lb.

The pairs trophy, sponsored by Jay’s Wines, was won by John Warriner and Paul Warburton.

PETER HILL was first past the post in the Medlock Bridge AC open on the Park lake.

Drawn on peg 25, he employed caster at 11 metres to catch at regular intervals throughout the five-hour contest.

Hill had a 2lb tench, some smaller samples, as well as decent roach and a few bream for 18lb 7oz.

Darren Webb, the organiser, must have been kicking himself. But for a slow first 90 minutes, he would have surely won the match.

In the end he had to settle for second place, with maggot at 13 metres attracting a few roach and chub, before a switch to pellet at 11 metres tempted a 3lb bream, half a dozen tench and eight skimmers for a 18lb 3oz bag.

Andrew Mitchell (GTI Gilders) was third with 14lb 3oz, tempting roach, perch and skimmers on maggot at 12 metres.

It was a cracking display of long-pole fishing from Mitchell, who landed a fish every chuck.

Tom triumphs in Cranberry contest

CRANBERRY AC’s match on the Ward Lane length of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal at Diggle threw up plenty of good weights.

The best of the lot was recorded by Tom Hughes, who had a 13lb 4oz catch of small bream and skimmers on the tip and maggot.

Chris Bold was next-best with 10lb 12oz of skimmers, also on tip and maggot, while John Keeley was third with a decent carp and some smaller silver fish for 7lb 4oz
