Young guns put Harriers on the right track

OLDHAM and Royton Harriers recorded a clutch of excellent results at Hyndburn in the latest round of the UK Athletics Young Athletes League.
There were wins for Adam Howard in the 1,500m in four minutes 37.9 seconds, the long jump (4.62 metres) and the 200m in 26.7s.
Lucy Kershaw won the under-13s 75m ‘B’ race in 11.7s and the shot with a throw of 7.10m.
Jane Augsburger also registered two good wins, taking the under-17 long jump with a leap of 3.88m and the 3,000m in 11:42.4.
Under-15s athlete Elliott Astle had a good day, posting 9.56m in the shot and 29.95m in the javelin.
Connor Colleavey was first in the 1,500 with a superb time of 5:08.1. He also won the ‘B’ long jump with 3.87m.
Christopher Brown was victorious the 800m in 2:34.8 and doubled up with a win in the long jump in 3.96m.
There were more wins from Jack Cooke in the 100m in 11.8s, Heather Moran won the 100m in 13.3s and Bradley Szakacs in the under-17s 200m with 23.6s.
Bobbie-Leigh Tindall returned to form to land the 200m in 27.6s, while Mary Elcock won ‘B’ race in 28.8s.
Robert Smith won the under-13s 1,500m in 5:15.2, Luke Brierley took first place in the 75m hurdles in 16.3s and Francesca Connolly won the high jump with 1.33m.
