DORYOKU Karate Club, based at Chadderton Sports Centre, has welcomed four new black belts to their ranks — Waqar Shah, Jack Higgins, Sam Lomax and Adam Kowal.
Their new status was achieved at the club’s recent grading, completing the set of four specialist tests taken at this high level to achieve 1st Dan. They have been tested in all aspects of martial arts, including fighting, Kata, basic combinations, kickboxing combinations, weapons, grappling, self-defence, padwork and focus mitt combinations.
Chief instructor and founder, Sensei Irfan Ansari (5th Dan) commented: “The black belt is the culmination of approximately three and a half years of hard work for these lads, not only physically but technically due to the diverse syllabus we teach at The Dojo.”
