Sheila in the pink at Saddleworth

SADDLEWORTH held a pink-ball competition to raise awareness of breast cancer.
Winner of the singles Stableford was Sheila Cooper with a remarkable score of 42 points, six clear of Barbara Shuttleworth.
The victorious team were Jean Dervan, Eileen Simpson and Muriel Makin with 35 points.
In second place were Jean Barnes, Brenda Hatherill and Truda Dexter (29).
Mary Buckley and Edythe Turner will represent OLDHAM in next year’s Daily Mail Foursomes.
They won the club qualifier with a score of 89-17.5-71.5. Runners-up were Joyce Beech and Linda Newman (95-22.5-72.5).
The women’s invitation-to-men foursomes saw Graham Ring and lady president Anne Lees head the field with a score of 87-21.5-65.5.
Second were Martin Lewis and Linda Newman (87-19.5-67.5), while third place went to captain Colin Hare and lady captain Ann Smith (92-24-68).
Mr President’s Prize at BLACKLEY was won by Eunice Cunliffe (101-33-68), from Mary Ruddy (75-5-70) and Sue Oldham (92-18-74).
