Rachel misses out on Open spot

LOCAL golfer Rachel Connor had a round to forget as she failed to win a place in the Ricoh Women’s British Open at Royal Lytham and St Annes, which tees off tomorrow.

In the final qualifier at Fairhaven, Rachel shot a nine-over-par 83 to finish eight shots off the mark.

It was the second successive year that the 19-year-old from Royton has failed at the same stage.
