IT was a night to forget for Werneth as they slumped to a nine-wicket defeat at Heywood in the semi-finals of the John Willie Lees Twenty20 Competition.
Only Alan Durose reached double figures (20) in Werneth’s disappointing 65 for nine, but even he had difficulty on a wicket which played a few tricks.
Off-spinner Rob Slawson conceded only 13 runs in four overs. He went on to grab Durose’s wicket, snaffling a caught and bowled chance.
Heywood will play Clifton – eight-wicket conquerors of Royton – in the final on Saturday, September 12.
The two teams will toss to decide who hosts the match.
