MARK Chambers hit a stunning 191 and Russ White an unbeaten 58 in a second-wicket stand of 217 as Radclyffe rattled up 329 for four against St Marys in the Ashton and Oldham Cricket Alliance.
In reply, St Marys scored 146 for five, G Lawrence top scoring with 43 and Hull taking two for nine,
Newtonhurst and Friends fought out an excellent game which went right down to the wire.
G Boyle (46), K Buckley (23) and A Turner all batted well as Newtonhurst made 151 for nine from their 40 overs. Rasheed took three for 19.
In reply, Friends needed four runs from the last over to clinch victory with opener Amjad still at the wicket.
But four dot balls from Stone, who finished with two for 23, gave Newtonhurst the lion’s share of the points.
Heyside thirds bowled first against Europa Exiles, who made 274 for six thanks to excellent contributions from A Hodgson (111) and P Towle (55). P Robinson took four for 62 for Heyside.
Heyside were then dismissed for 126, M Topping hitting 30 and Hodgson taking three for 26 for Europa, whose maximum points haul took them to the top alongside Newtonhurst.
Sunday’s game between Foresters and Greengate was called off and both teams awarded two points.
