THE Oldham men’s darts team were beaten finalists in the northern section of the British Champions Cup.
Oldham, who qualified to represent the county having won the Lancashire GMC Super League, premier division title, were edged out 5-4 by arch rivals Yorkshire.
But they could easily have triumphed at Glasshoughton Working Men’s Club, Castleford, as four of the five defeats were by 3-2 margins.
Oldham’s winners in the final were John Moreton (3-2), Peter Connolly (3-0), John Downs (3-2) and Dave Yates (3-0).
Oldham had a bye in the first round at Glasshoughton and whitewashed Lincolnshire’s representatives 9-0 in the semi-final.
MANY of the Oldham men’s town-team players will be in action at Halliwell Central Reform Club, Bolton, on Saturday.
They will be taking part in the Lancashire area qualifier for the Lakeside World Professional Championship.
